Here is a timeline chart:

How to get this info.

First go to the following site from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), which is part of the Commerce Department

Gross Domestic Product.

Then  scroll down to find the "Interactive Data" data link. Click on that. Then you will see a link called "GDP and the National Income and Product Account (NIPA) Historical Tables." Click on that.

When that page opens up, click on "Begin using the data." When that page opens ups, click on "SECTION 1 - DOMESTIC PRODUCT AND INCOME."

Then you will see a list of tables. Click on "Table 1.1.6. Real Gross Domestic Product, Chained Dollars (A) (Q) ." When that table opens up, click on the circular arrow called "Modify."

Then you will get a dialogue box called "Data Table Options." Select 1929 as your First Year and 2020 as your Last Year. Where it says "Series" select the "Annual" option.

Then click on the "Refresh Table" option. You will see a table that begins with 1929. It has Real GDP (in 2012 dollars) every year from 1929-2020. This is done horizontally.

There is a download button above the table so you can get the data into Microsoft Excel. Once you have saved your file you might want to transpose the rows into columns. That makes it easier to work with.

To get per capita numbers, divide by the population. The following links is my source for population data.

US Population by Year.
